Neha Choksi performs for us in New Delhi

In February 2013 in New Delhi, we commissioned Indian artist Neha Choksi to give a performance as a prelude to our conference devoted to the reasons for collecting art.

The poetic work of Neha Choksi investigates our reaction to absence and disappearance: of someone or something. In her videos, as in her sculptures, photographs or performances, Choksi uses matter as metaphor. Through tragicomic or absurd actions, performed on the life of a plant or an animal, or directly on her own life, the artist experiments with vulnerability, intimacy and isolation. Deep sleep, caused by anaesthesia, becomes “A rehearsal for a moment of silence”. The mysterious dress rehearsal for a permanent absence.
